What exactly is an eating disorder and how much do I actually need to know about them? Dr. Erin Parks, co-founder of Equip, a virtual eating disorder treatment program that helps young people recover at home, joins Zoë for a concise yet thorough “eating disorders 101”. Tune in to learn how to spot disordered behavior in your kids, how to address concerns head-on, when it’s time to consult a professional, and what effective treatment looks like.

Dr. Erin Parks, is a clinical psychologist, researcher, a former director at the leading UC San Diego Eating Disorder Center, and co-founder of Equip. She has 15+ years experience with adolescents and adults in inpatient, partial hospitalization, and intensive outpatient settings and opened the first pediatric ED program. She’s led dozens of national and international trainings in evidence-based ED treatment and is passionate about improving access to quality care.

Over the past decade, Erin had been focused on an important barrier to access: location. Families were traveling around the country seeking quality treatment--but couldn’t find evidence-based treatment in their communities.

In 2019,  Erin and co-founder Kristina Saffron built the treatment that families wanted and needed. Together, they built Equip.
