But what about diabetes? This is the question that continues to come up when we talk about health at every size and fat positivity. Even when we know that weight doesn’t cause health conditions, it’s hard not to feel the pressure of things like diabetes. There can be a lot of shame about not being able to “fix” something when it seems like others can. This week, we talk with endocrinologist Greg Dodell to try to understand the connection between weight, lifestyle, and diabetes and answer questions such as: What is diabetes? What do we mean by lifestyle? How does shame affect health? How can we make sustainable changes? And many more.
